Freedom Cabins started the way most good ideas do — out of necessity.
We built our first cabin as our own family home, and somewhere along the way it turned into something bigger.
Now we build for Kiwi families all over the country, and we still treat every build like it's our own.
Before all of this, Jodie and Drew were professional racing drivers. Sounds like a stretch for cabin builders, but motorsport teaches you a few things that carry over pretty well: precision, attention to detail, and a firm understanding that shortcuts will come back to bite you. Every build we do carries that same standard.

​Becoming parents changed how we think about this stuff. We now know the pull to have family nearby without everyone living in each other's pockets.
Our granny flat range is the result of this: the need for a proper, warm, well-built minor dwelling that gives Mum or Dad their own space, their own front door,
and their dignity intact.

None of that works if the product is sub-standard. So we build with real timber, the same standards as a full-sized Kiwi home - just on a smaller scale.
